November/December 2009 — In recent years, more than 100 PPC (Plunger Process Control) systems have been successfully installed. PPC is a full stroke sensor-based monitoring system that:
• Monitors the entire plunger motion during the forming process
• Controls the gob weight
• Enables optimization of variables such as lubrication cycles and swabbing
• Improves the understanding of the forming process
• Allows easy trouble-shooting of mechanical faults and variations

Since the introduction of electro pneumatic valve blocks, cartridges have been used to operate the pneumatic mechanisms on IS machines. From the earliest days, Emhart Glass has provided plastic cartridges for dry air applications, and aluminum cartridges for oily air conditions.

May/June 2009 - In our industry, the AIS parallel mold open and close technology is well accepted, reliable, and proven. It is now available for the 5” blank side section frame, configurable for 85 mm TG, 5” DG and SG.
