IS Machine Portfolio

July/August 2011  — Since Emhart introduced in 1927 the first commercial 4 section single gob IS machine more than 80 years of continuous developments have happened aiming for higher performance, more flexibility and better quality. The first machine produced 4 containers per cycle while today’s Emhart Glass IS machine flagship, the NIS machine, a 12 section quadruple gob is capable of producing up to 48 containers per cycle. In fact a 12 times higher containers per cycle production.

Good News, Bad News

January/February 2011 — Good news: the Glass Industry survived the last two years which was the most difficult period in recent history. Bad news: nevertheless, many furnaces, even complete plants, had to be shut down in order to cope with the decreasing glass demand. Especially in Western Europe, glass consumption dropped by about 8% in 2009. The worst was Eastern Europe with a drop of about 12%, really bad news.
