Bucher Emhart Glass is proud to announce the move of its Elmira facility to a new building near the Elmira / Corning airport

Bucher Emhart Glass opened a new facility to be the home of the Elmira operations. This new world class facility provides space for manufacturing, administration as well as engineering for the Inspection Business of Bucher Emhart Glass. The importance of the Inspection Business within Bucher Emhart Glass became very clear within the recent launch of the End to End strategy http://www.bucheremhartglass.com/end_to_end_concept(link is external) and is now prominently reflected in this modern facility. The End to End concept connects the forming process of a glass plant with the inspection of the finished glass container.

74 Kahler Road North in Horseheads, New York is one of the premier industrial facilities in the Northeast region of the United States. The 101,000 square foot facility was constructed in 2007 on the Elmira Corning Regional Airport (ELM) with immediate access to Interstate I-86. The facility features a high bay manufacturing operation that is divided into two sections by large overhead doors. One section is now used for the machine shop and shear blade production while the other section is used for assembly, machine testing and warehousing. The property also contains a free standing building with a hangar door that serves as storage for crated machines awaiting shipment.

The current office and administration area was expanded to meet the office needs of the Elmira operation. A 6,000 square foot addition was constructed on the south end of the facility along with a renovation of the existing office interior. It hosts administration and engineering.

The construction started in December of 2015 and during October 2016 the move from the old facility on Sullivan Street to the new facility took place. On October 25, 2016 this Kahler Road facility was officially inaugurated with many important guests and speakers (Photo with: from left to right: Mike Curry, Vice President Inspection Business; Susan Mathers, US Controller and US General Manager; Pat Ervin, Director, L&M Inspection/Site Manager; Martin Jetter, President Bucher Emhart Glass; Tom Santulli, Chemung County Executive; Tom O’Mara, New York State Senator).

The new building was dedicated to Whitney Sheldon “Bud” Powers, the founder of the original inspection business in Elmira who sold his business to Bucher Emhart Glass in 1982, the starting point of the success of the Inspection Business within our company.
